FAST Technologies, an engineering solutions company in Derry, has announced 17 new jobs as part of a £1.1million investment to enhance growth activities and expand its skilled workforce.

FAST Technologies, which currently employs 30 people, attended an official announcement this morning along with nine other companies which collectively are investing £5.6million and creating 100 new jobs in the Londonderry and Strabane areas.

The Minister for the Economy, Simon Hamilton, made the official announcement at Invest Northern Ireland’s Timber Quay offices where representatives of all companies gathered to celebrate the jobs boost.

Conleth Doherty, a director of FAST Technologies, said the company is proud to create skilled jobs for a skilled workforce.

He said: “FAST Technologies, based at Skeoge Industrial Estate, is a solutions focused company providing collaborative robotics, automation and software solutions for SMEs and large bluechip companies.

“We are investing £1.1million which includes £97,000 worth of financial support from Invest NI through its Selective Financial Assistance Programme. This investment allows us to create 17 new highly skilled jobs.

“We work in a range of sectors here in Northern Ireland, in the south of Ireland, across the UK, in Scandinavia, Asia and the US.

“We will be launching our recruitment drive immediately for project managers, electrical, mechanical, design and automation engineers, machine-build technicians, as well as software developers. There is great talent in Northern Ireland and we will be tapping into our people’s potential to meet our needs for a skilled workforce.

“We will continue to design and develop innovative engineering solutions for the food and drink sector, companies working in life sciences, electronics, automotive, aerospace, data centres and Agri-tech industries.”

The 100 new jobs being created across the North West region will contribute over £2.5million in additional salaries.
