FAST Technologies is now seeking to recruit a Junior/Graduate Mechanical Engineer for their production facility, in Derry~Londonderry:

Contract Type: Full-time/Permanent

Location: Derry/Londonderry

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week

Salary: Negotiable and depending on experience

 

As Junior/ Graduate Mechanical Engineer, you will work either independently or as a team on various projects as assigned by the Project Manager.  The Junior Mechanical Engineer may oversee aspects of a  design process or assist on a specialised design.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare engineering studies and schematic design for new systems; and analyse the operation of existing systems.
  • Work on a number of mechanical/automation projects and focus on reducing costs and cycle times on current plant equipment / projects.
  • Co-ordinate with the design and technical team in order to provide support during the initial technical specifications, site visits and technical advice on the products/process for mechanical requirements.
  • Write a scope of work for mechanical design based on preliminary reviews and meetings with the client
  • Create / read mechanical layouts and schematic drawings.
  • Produce accurate Bill of Materials (BOM’s) for mechanical components.
  • Ensure quality control and health and safety requirements are always met.

 

Essential Criteria:

  • Degree in Mechanical/Automation Engineering.
  • Candidates with a HNC / HND or equivalent in Mechanical/Automation Engineering with experience may also be considered.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to remedy problems correctly and with speed.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office or equivalent.

 

Desirable Criteria:

  • 1 years’ experience in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Knowledge of Pneumatic circuit design.
  • Knowledge of layout, and testing of automated mechanical systems.
  • Ability to design, modify and create Mechanical Schematics using AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks or PRO E 3D CAD Software.

 

The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in Mechanical engineering as well as working with all aspects of the product development life cycle. They will be able to communicate with other departments on issues identified from field observations and customer feedback.
